Nanomist vs Milbon vs Vokanic: Which Hair Treatment Do You Need?
Jul 15, 2026 · 4 min read

If you've looked at The Hive Salon's treatment menu and wondered what the difference is between Nanomist, Milbon, and Vokanic — you're not alone. Here's an honest breakdown of what each treatment does, who it's best for, and how we recommend at consultation.
Why Treatments Matter
Hair treatments are not just an add-on for pampering. For chemically treated hair — colour, rebonding, perms — treatments actively repair internal damage, restore moisture, and extend the life of your service. Skipping treatments after chemical services is one of the most common reasons hair becomes dry, brittle, and difficult to manage over time.
At The Hive Salon, we recommend treatments based on your actual hair condition — not the most expensive option on the menu.
Nanomist Hair Treatment
Nanomist is the lightest treatment on our menu. It uses ultra-fine nano mist technology to infuse moisture and nutrients into the hair cuticle — leaving hair softer, shinier, and more manageable after a single session.
It is a maintenance treatment, not a repair treatment. If your hair is generally healthy but feels dry, lacks shine, or needs a refresh after washing — Nanomist is sufficient. It is also the most accessible way to give your hair a boost when added on to any colour, rebonding, or perm service at +$30.
Pricing: from $58 (short hair), add-on +$30
Milbon 3-Step Hair Treatment
Milbon goes a step further than Nanomist. Where Nanomist addresses surface hydration, Milbon works internally — rebuilding the hair's protein structure that chemical services gradually break down over time.
If you colour regularly, rebond every few months, or perm your hair, Milbon is the treatment that keeps your hair structurally sound between services. Hair that skips Milbon after repeated chemical services tends to become progressively weaker, more porous, and harder to manage.
It is not suitable as a rescue treatment for severely damaged or heavily bleached hair — that is what Vokanic is for.
Pricing: from $88 (short hair), add-on +$80
Vokanic Hair Treatment
Vokanic is the most intensive treatment we offer. It is specifically designed for hair that has been heavily bleached or subjected to aggressive chemical processes — hair that feels weak, snaps easily, or is at risk of further breakage.
Using hydrolyzed collagen, keratin, hyaluronic acid, and organic oils — argan, coconut, and macadamia — Vokanic reinforces the hair's internal structure and prevents further damage. It does not straighten hair or alter your natural texture.
If your hair has reached a point where Milbon is no longer sufficient — or your stylist assesses that your hair is too compromised for further chemical services without intervention — Vokanic is the next step.
Pricing: from $188 (short hair)
Naked Gorilla Scalp Treatment
Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp — and the Naked Gorilla Scalp Treatment addresses exactly that.
Before your treatment begins, your stylist scans your scalp to assess its condition. This allows us to customise the correct formula for your specific scalp type and recommend the right shampoo for your ongoing home care — not a generic recommendation, but one based on what your scalp actually needs.
The treatment deeply cleanses, rebalances, and refreshes the scalp environment — removing impurities, soothing irritation, and unclogging follicles. It is suitable for oily scalp, sensitive scalp, dandruff, itchiness, and product build-up.
Pricing: $128 (any length), add-on +$108

Can You Combine Treatments?
Milbon and Naked Gorilla Scalp can be combined in the same appointment — addressing both hair repair and scalp health simultaneously. We do not recommend combining Vokanic with other treatments in the same session.
What About Add-Ons?
Nanomist and Milbon are available as add-ons to colour, rebonding, or perm services at a reduced time and price. If you're already coming in for a chemical service, adding a treatment at the same appointment is the most efficient and cost-effective way to maintain your hair health.
